I ate before I ran, and I suffered for it. I did wait an hour, but my time was over 30 minutes (31 minutes on the dot) for 3 miles. I felt miserable the whole run. Plus, my legs were tired. However, it was a beautiful day with a nice, crisp breeze.
I ran with my heart rate monitor again: 158 average; 172 max; 65 resting.

April 28, 2010
A beautiful day for a 4 mile run. My whole body felt quite tired, though. I finished the run under my goal of a 9:30 pace at 9:18 (37:12). I'm still 7 pounds over what I weighed before the break that I should not have taken!
My heart rate numbers: 173 average; 189 max; 72 rest.
I am following a half marathon training program, but I do not have any races in mind as of yet.

Monday, April 26, 2010
It was drizzling a little with a cool breeze when I started. The sun broke through the clouds with less than a mile left and it got hot. Even with yesterday's rest day, my legs were really tired.
I ran for the first time with my heart rate monitor. I'm not sure what the numbers mean or what to do with them. My minimum heart rate was 97; the maximum was 188; and the average was 171. According to runnersworld.com, which I just looked up, my maximum heart rate should be 200. The old formula was 220-your age; Runner's World now believes the best formula for 40 and older is 220-(your age * 0.5). I also don't know how much time I am to spend in zones at certain rates.
I failed to complete my 3-mile run in under the 9 minute pace. I finished at a 9:05.

Rain & Tornado Watch
Nothing like rain and a tornado watch for motivation. I ran three miles today in 25:52, an 8:37 pace.
It had stormed earlier, around 5:00 am. The weather had calmed down (but more bad weather was expected), so before my run, I ran a few errands: Foodlion, Rural King, and the Animal House Veterinary Clinic. About the time I pulled in the driveway back it, the sprinkles started. I quickly changed into my running gear, while I kept changing my mind: I'm running; I'm not running. I finally forced myself down the road.
A motivation reason was that I should have been in Nashville running in the Country Music Marathon (at least the half marathon). Seeing those runners on the news before I set on my errands was another motivator for me to get back and run. I ran when it was below 20 degrees, a little ran wouldn't kill me, but the lightening could.
It was only raining, no lightening, as I headed out. Before I reached mile 1, the thunder began rumbling. About 1.5 miles, there was a streak of lightening. The thunder began rolling. There was only a few more flashes of lightening, during my run. My wife even came to rescue me, but I only lacked 1/2 mile so I turned down the ride. I couldn't quit that close to home. Discipline.
The thunder storm and tornado watches became warnings. The weather calmed for awhile. Then warnings came again. At one point, I looked out the front door. If I looked to the right, the rain was being blown to the left; when I looked to the left, the wind was blowing the rain to the right - right out our front door! We escaped any damages, though.

Back-to-Back Days
I tried, but couldn't keep it under 9 minute pace. I was 8 seconds over at half-way point. I knew I would really have to push on the way back, because I would be more tired and the hills are mostly uphill. But hey, back-to-back days, so maybe I am back.
April 22, 2010 Second Run This Week!
I had to force myself to run. It was already after 6:00 pm and the sprinkles were beginning to fall a little harder. But I headed out...
Since I was afraid it was about to pour down rain, I tried to run this 3-miler as fast as I could. Anything under 9 minutes is good for me, especially since I have not been running regularly. The pain wasn't bad either, considering I was pushing it. Don't get me wrong - I hurt and was tired - but not as bad as I thought I would be.
My time was 26:28 - an 8:49 pace.

April 20, 2010 Re-Starting (Again)
Hopefully, I'm back. I know I have said this a few times before. This was only my 3rd run in almost 5 weeks. All 3 runs were 3-milers and came after my 17 mile run on March 20. Now, I am having to build back up to that since I lost a lot during my 5 week hiatus. Plus, I've gained 7 pounds.

Monday, April 12, 2010 --- I'm Baa ^ aack ?
Am I back? I don't know; I hope so.
I ran for the first time in 14 days, and only for the second time in 23 days. Both were 3 milers, following my 17-miler 23 days ago.
I thought I would be more apt to keeping my running schedule once the weather warmed up. However, it seems more the opposite. There are more things I have to/rather would do.
